One major challenge I faced was ensuring that AI-generated responses felt authentic. I wanted fans to believe they were truly hearing from the creator, not a machine. Striking the right balance between automation and personalisation was crucial, so we focused on training the AI with real creator interactions to capture their unique styles.
Additionally, making the AI calls sound natural was another hurdle. We needed to stitch pre-recorded voice snippets together smoothly to avoid awkward transitions. It was essential for the calls to feel personal, which required extensive testing and refinement. I also had to consider how much control creators should have over their AI messages, balancing ease of use with oversight.

Product Context
As part of our ongoing effort to enhance the experience for both creators and their fans on Fanvue, I designed and oversaw the implementation of AI-powered calls and messaging features. These features are crafted to provide seamless, intelligent communication between creators and their audiences, helping creators engage at scale without compromising the personal touch.
Purpose
The AI calls and messaging functionality was built to address a growing need from creators who wanted to streamline communication with their fans, especially as their fanbase grew. It provides a way for creators to manage a high volume of messages without losing their voice, while ensuring that fan interactions remain personalised and meaningful.
Problem Statement
As creators’ follower counts grow, managing direct messages and requests for interaction can become overwhelming. Creators were finding it difficult to respond to every fan while maintaining the authenticity of their content. This overload could negatively affect their engagement levels, leading to potential dissatisfaction among fans and burnout for creators.
Objectives
The objectives for this feature were:
To allow creators to communicate with their fans efficiently, with responses that feel authentic and personalised.
To maintain high levels of engagement while reducing the burden of manual messaging.
To provide AI-powered calls that simulate personalised, one-to-one interactions between creators and their fans.
Solution
Fanvue’s AI messaging and calls leverage natural language processing to generate messages that reflect the unique tone and style of each creator. The system is trained on their previous interactions, learning the nuances of their communication style. Creators can also review and approve AI responses, ensuring a high level of quality and personalisation.
The AI calls use pre-recorded audio snippets from the creator, which are then dynamically stitched together to simulate a real-time conversation. Fans feel like they’re having a personalised experience, while the creator can engage with a larger number of individuals without the time commitment of live calls.

User Flow
Setup: Creators can set up their messaging preferences, selecting a tone and providing sample messages or calls that they’ve previously made. The AI will use this data to build its communication style.
Automated Messages: When a fan sends a message, the AI will generate a response based on the creator’s pre-defined tone and previous interactions. The creator can choose to approve or automate these responses.
AI-Driven Calls: Fans can request a call, and the AI will schedule and deliver the call using pre-recorded audio, giving the fan a one-on-one experience that feels personal and direct.

Next Steps
We are constantly working on refining the AI to improve its understanding of creators’ unique styles. Future updates will focus on integrating video messages and further customisation options for creators. Our goal is to make Fanvue the most creator-friendly platform, giving creators the tools they need to engage authentically at scale.
